Luxury is seamlessly combined with utility in the 2018 Acura RDX in Sioux Falls. This rare combination is difficult to replicate though many have tried. Even comparing it to the 2018 Buick Encore, the Acura RDX stands out due to its…

Suspension and Handling

Everyone wants a smooth drive. The 2018 Acura RDX gives you that with a fully independent front and rear suspensions. This allows the wheels to move independently and at the perfect angle for maximum gripping and control. The Buick Encore uses a rear torsion beam axle with a semi-independent rear suspension. The Acura RDX also uses a standard front and rear stabilizer bars. This helps to keep the RDX flat and controlled during cornering. The Encore does not have this feature.

Passenger and Cargo Room

More passenger and cargo room means more options for you and your family! The RDX boasts 10.7 cubic feet more passenger volume compared to the Buick Encore with 103.5 cubic feet of room compared to 92.8 cubic feet. Overall, the RDX has 1.2 inches more front legroom, 4 inches more front hip room, and 4.5 inches more front shoulder room. Despite all of this extra passenger room, the RDX also has a much larger cargo area with its rear seat up with 26.1 cubic feet compared to 18.8 cubic feet. Even with the rear seat folded, the RDX still has more room with 76.9 cubic feet compared to 48.4 cubic feet.

Towing Capacity

While both vehicles are not designed for towing per se, only the 2018 Acura RDX has 1,500 pounds of towing capacity. The Buick Encore has no towing capacity.

Safety

Both vehicles have adept safety features ranging from rearview cameras to electronic stability systems. However, the Acura RDX has standard Active Head Restraints which prevents injuries associated from whiplash. For even more protection, the RDX offers an optional Collision Mitigating Braking System. This braking system utilizes sensors to detect potential collision. The system warns the driver of a potential collision, and in the event the driver does not react, the system automatically applies the brakes, potentially avoiding the collision altogether. The Encore does not have this feature.
