Oil changes are something that every car needs. That being said, there are different types of car and different needs when it comes to oil changes and types of oils. For some, a full synthetic oil change is needed and here is a bit about why.
There are different types of oil out there that all do different things. Typically, oil that is put into cars is going to be a blend of synthetic and natural oil. This helps to better regulate how the oil lubricates the engine and how it is used up. For some cars, a full synthetic is necessary because it lubricates better and more fully than some other oils. A full synthetic oil change is one where only synthetic oil is in the oil change. Oil filters are also often changed when an oil change is done.
Not all cars need full synthetic oil. Some can go with oil that is blended and be just fine. There are some cars however that do better with full synthetic oils. This may have to do with the type of car or the way that it is driven as well. Cars that drive a great deal and that rack up high mileage each month are far more likely to benefit from a full synthetic than those that do not drive as far and therefore do not need an oil that is as heavy in weight.
The real issue is not with the synthetic or blended oil. The real issue comes when the oil is not changed in a car at all. If your car recommends that you have full synthetic oil you should of course go that route, if not, you just need to follow the recommendation of your mechanic. If you do not change the oil in your car your engine can lock up due to lack of lubrication, your car may smoke or let off foul odors, and it will cease to operate at all.
